Having been our editor since the 1970s it is good to welcome back George Ingram with Newsletter 56. Continuing his format of featuring latest releases, with reviews of key year releases in the history of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, George is back with 1975 and the published article highlights from the magazines of the day.
The interesting feature of this 1975 review is how the attitude of some was that Frankie Valli was an ageing pop star rejuvenating his career with a new solo hit and his group with their continuing touring schedule to ‘old’ adoring fans. He denies it is his ‘comeback’ year and hints at a separate career for the then Four Seasons.
Here we are nearly 40 years on and he is still going albeit on a much reduced touring schedule and with a very different band and sound. No-one back then would have believed it possible and the writers of those articles would be left speechless at his durability. The article’s, contain some factual errors but give some insight into his marriage to Mary Anne Hannigan and to Bob Crewe’s resurgence as a producer all wrapped up in the PR stories of the day..
